During an appearance on NY Live to promote his film The Accompanist, Zach Woods was asked where the idea for the story came from.
Zach’s answer:
I had a grandmother named Sylvia, who was kind of a witch, a good witch, and she made the world feel magic. And it always felt like Friday night when you were with her, like everything was just humming with potential. And she was really beautiful and full of life. And she also had a real undertow. And I love her and I miss her. And so I talked to my writing partner, Brandon, about it, and we started from there.
